I don’t know about you, but I am always looking to save more money. Lately, I have been doing everything I can to save more money when shopping and I have discovered a way to save hundreds on Amazon. Of course, I wanted to share this with you. Below you will find my top five tips on how to save money on Amazon.
Amazon always has good deals going on. A lot of people only think to shop deals on Amazon Prime day, or Cyber Monday, but they are deals all year round. Amazon offers daily deals and it is pretty easy to view. All you do is click on the little tab labeled today’s deals under the search bar for Amazon. Right now it is labeled Cyber Monday Deals Week.
Once you are in the today’s deal section you can click around to the category you want to make shopping a lot easier. Don’t forget to check out Amazon Outlet too. This is usually where the really good stuff hides.
You can also shop Amazon Warehouse. This is where a lot of open box deals hide (it looks like these products are now labeled used with the text fulfillment by Amazon next to them). Usually, you can find the link for this in the left sidebar once you enter the today’s deals, but with the new Christmas layout, you have to scroll to the bottom of the page for a banner.
I always make a list of the products on what on Amazon. It is really easy. When you see a product you want but don’t want to buy at the moment you just select add to list instead of add to cart (usually under the add to cart option). Now, whenever I am buying something else on Amazon I check my list to see if the product I want might have gone on sale. It is that easy.
Amazon used to have a section labeled “opened box” under the other ways to buy section. I do believe they have changed this to a used product with the text “fulfillment by Amazon” next to it. If you read the description of these products you’ll realize it is the same as buying an open box product, but they have decided to label it a different way. All this means is the product was returned to Amazon, inspected by Amazon, and decided that it was still good enough to sell.
This is a great way to get products for cheaper that is still new. Often times people just opened the box, decided they didn’t like it and sent it back. Just read the description when buying this way. It will list anything that might be wrong with the product. Most products will still say along the lines of “like new”, meaning the product was opened but not used.
Also, these “used” products that are still backed by Amazon. If you buy from other sellers on Amazon you might not get the warranty Amazon provides, but if you buy products that are fulfilled by Amazon they still come with the normal warranty.
When you find a product you like, look for the text underneath the product that says “new and used from….” This will take you to other buying options. Click over to the used section and see if they have any fulfilled by Amazon. You might get lucky.
You can also use the other ways to buy section to find the product being sold cheaper by other vendors on Amazon. Just keep an eye on the shipping price. Sometimes the item is cheaper, but once you pay for shipping from them it becomes more expensive.
Amazon Prime is not the only way to get free shipping (although it is the only way to free two-day shipping). Amazon usually offers free shipping on select items once you spent a certain amount of money. I have seen this amount vary from $25-$50. Take advantage of this when you can. I try to buy as many items that I need (key word is need here people) at once to save on shipping.
Now the thing to know is Amazon is getting a little sneaky on this free shipping business and if you don’t pay attention they will get you. I have noticed that when I go to check out they skip me past all the steps and straight into reviewing my order. This screen tells me how I am paying, what I am paying, and where I am shipping. If doesn’t ask me how I want to ship. It just assumes I want standard shipping, which is not free shipping.
Now if your order doesn’t qualify for free shipping then standard is the first choice, but if you spend that certain amount on qualified products you do have the free shipping option. You must manually go into the shipping information and change from standard shipping to free shipping. The delivery time is usually the same.
Amazon might be getting sneaky, but we are smart. Make sure to change that shipping to free. You earned it after hunting down all those qualifying products.
Now there are two ways to compare prices on Amazon. There is always the other ways to buy section on Amazon that is usually linked under the add to cart button. Sometimes this options says “new and used from….” But you can also just type in the product you want into the search bar and find similar products for sale. Usually the same product just sold by another brand is often cheaper. Just make sure to read reviews when buying this way.
I have become obsessed with buying things off of Amazon. There is always a way to find a good deal on Amazon, and it comes straight to my door. To me, there is no better way to shop.
