So you finally realized you need to do something about your closet? I have definitely been there. Actually, I recently moved to a place with a small closet, and I have had to take over a guest closet with some of my winter coats. So I feel your pain, but don’t worry I am fixing mine. I can’t stand clutter and it is time I tackle my closet. Lucky for you I am going to share some home organization tips on how to organize that closet.
You all know by now that I have a lover for internet research. It actually might be an addiction. Anytime I have a problem I go straight to the internet to try to fix it. And I mean it makes sense right? I am a blogger dedicated to fixing other people’s problems, so it is only fitting that I seek out other bloggers with I am in need.
This time I learned a lot about closet organization. I mean I already knew some, but I learned a few things I didn’t know before, and I want to share them with you, and how they worked out for me. Now I know blogs like this usually show you the system in place, but I don’t feel comfortable sharing my clothes with you. I am now a beauty blogger you know.
But I will do you one favor. I’ll link everything I used within the blog. If you didn’t know, I am lazy. I don’t like leaving my house to buy anything. And I know some of you are just like me. So I’ll do you the favor and link what I used so all you have to do is click over and never leave your bed. You are welcome. Now let’s get into this.
Buy a shoe organizer.
I know you don’t think your closet is big enough, but trust me it is. The reason you don’t think your closet is big enough has to do with the fact that you have shoes laying all over the floor. It is okay. You can admit this to me. I did it too. Just buy the shoe organizer and thank me later.
Now there are two kinds of show organizers. There is the one that hands over the back of the door, and the one that is more like little shelves at the bottom of your closet. I bought the one for the floor, but I have heels and boots. The one for the back of the door just didn’t work for me.
If you have mostly flat shoes maybe consider the one for the back fo the door. It will save you space on the floor of your closet. If you have a lot of shoes than maybe consider both. Whatever you do just get those shoes off the floor of your closet. You can’t even see what you have when they are piled up like that. You know what I am talking about.
Here are a few options:
A few over the door hooks never hurt anyone.
This is my favorite home organization idea. I love over the door hooks, and they have saved my life. Okay, that might be a bit much, but I do love them. I used them for everything. Currently, I have a set on my closet door and my bedroom door. I told you I have a lot of winter coats.
Now I don’t use these hooks for all of my jackets, but I do hang the ones I am currently using on them. I also hang up my son’s jacket and my purse on them as well. I love the one on my bedroom door because it provides a place for me to grab what I need on my way out.

Hanging closet organizers are nice too.
These things are like shelves that hang from your closet rob. Now I didn’t know anything about these, but I have also been informed that I am just late to the game. My room isn’t big enough for a dresser so I used these to organize the things I have that can’t be hung up.
These are also a good option if you use your closet for more than just clothes. Those of us that live in a small space might need to store other things in our closet, and if they small these hanging organizers can help. This is one I bought on Amazon and a bigger one just
This is one I bought on Amazon and a bigger one just in case:
Consider slimmer hangers.
Did you know that hangers came in slim designs? Well, I did not. Apparently traditional hangers are kind of bulky and if you get slimmer ones then you can fit more clothes in your closet. I don’t know about you, but I could always put more clothes in my closet. These slim hangers come in all kinds of cute colors too.
Here are a few of my favorite:
I know I have been much happier now that my closet no longer looks like a storage locker. I still have to use a separate closet for my winter coats, but that might just be because I have too many. Hopefully, you found these tips useful too.
